Goodbye from RareFunk!

It is with heavy hearts we are announcing that we, RareFunk, will be closing our doors.

On Tuesday June 5, 2012, (4 years to the day that we opened for business), please pop in to say good bye, and join us as we celebrate everything RareFunk has done to help make the world a Funkier place!

We will be open for business as usual until June 5^th and many items will be going on sale so get yer Funk while you can!

Tamara Minns on Finding Your Inner Strength

Once I decided I was ready to make the dream of owning my own business a reality, I began to see a change in the behavior of those I surrounded myself with. I learned very quickly that while most people were genuinely excited yet concerned for my own well-being, it was also a test of my own personal strength and belief in myself. I believe many were perhaps jealous (doesn’t everyone want to own a business?) and subtly questioned my integrity, my abilities and my knowledge.

Ultimately, I had to believe wholeheartedly in myself and my dream, no matter what others thought of it. I had to be prepared for closed doors and keep walking towards my vision, though some thought I should wait. But what was it I should wait for? I knew what I wanted.

There is an inner strength found in becoming an entrepreneur that flourishes because of and in spite of the challenges and the naysayers. The strength of a women is tested on a daily basis, especially one in a leadership role. There will always be someone threatened by my dream and success, but I have the confidence to know that if I dream big, good things will continue to come to me! LESSON LEARNED: Keep your mind focused on your dream, follow your gut, and keep those who truly believe in you close by for encouraging reminders that one doesn’t need everyone’s approval to move forward.
